John Quincy Adams
1767 CE–1848 CE · Washington, D.C.
John Quincy Adams was the 6th President, serving from 1825 to 1829, and the son of John Adams. As Secretary of State he had negotiated the Adams-Onís Treaty acquiring Florida and helped craft the Monroe Doctrine. After leaving the presidency he served nearly two decades in the House of Representatives as a prominent opponent of slavery.
