Yazid II

Yazid II (c. 690–724) was the ninth Umayyad caliph, ruling from 720 to 724 and succeeding his cousin Umar II. His reign saw renewed tribal factionalism and the suppression of the revolt of Yazid ibn al-Muhallab in Iraq. He is also associated with an edict ordering the destruction of images, an episode noted in both Muslim and Christian sources, and he died in 724.
