Lady Six Sky (Ix Wak Chan Ajaw)

?741 CE · Naranjo

Lady Six Sky (Ix Wak Chan Ajaw), a princess of Dos Pilas, was sent to Naranjo (Sa'al) in 682 to re-establish its fallen royal line and bind the city to the Calakmul–Dos Pilas alliance. Though she never took a formal king's title, she effectively ruled Naranjo for decades, first in her own right and then as regent for her young son. Under her direction Naranjo waged a string of successful wars that restored its power, and her monuments make her one of the most prominent women in Maya history.
