K'ak' Tiliw Chan Chaak (Smoking Squirrel)

688 CE · Naranjo

K'ak' Tiliw Chan Chaak, nicknamed 'Smoking Squirrel,' became king of Naranjo (Sa'al) in 693 while still a small child, after his mother, the Dos Pilas princess Lady Six Sky, re-established the city's royal line. Under their joint rule Naranjo waged a vigorous series of wars against Caracol, Yaxha, and other neighbors, restoring its power and territory. His many monuments record these campaigns and celebrate the resurgence of the Naranjo dynasty.
