Muhammad I Tapar
1082 CE–1118 CE · Isfahan
Muhammad I Tapar, a son of Malik-Shah I, became sultan of the western Great Seljuk realm in 1105 after years of warfare with his brother Barkiyaruq. Ruling from Baghdad, he restored a measure of stability to the Iraqi and Iranian territories. He is noted for organizing military campaigns against the Nizari Ismaili strongholds such as Alamut. He died in 1118, after which the empire increasingly fragmented into rival principalities.
