Murad III was an Ottoman ruler (reigned 1574–1595) whose long reign was marked by prolonged wars with Safavid Persia in the east and the beginning of the 'Long War' with the Habsburgs in the west. His era saw growing financial strain, currency debasement, and the rising political influence of the imperial harem and court factions. He died in 1595.
