Ahmed I

Ahmed I was an Ottoman ruler who came to the throne as a teenager in 1603. He is remembered for commissioning the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul, popularly known as the Blue Mosque. He also altered the rules of succession, moving away from the practice of fratricide toward seniority within the dynasty. He died in 1617.
