Mustafa I

Mustafa I was an Ottoman ruler who reigned in two brief spells (1617–1618 and 1622–1623), the first sultan to be enthroned, deposed, and later restored. Judged unfit to govern on grounds of mental incapacity, he was set aside in favor of his nephew Osman II and then briefly restored after Osman's murder. He was deposed a second time in 1623 and died in confinement in 1639.
