Nota Tzvi Greenblatt

Rabbi Nota Tzvi Greenblatt (1925-2022) was an American rabbinic scholar based for more than seven decades in Memphis, Tennessee. Born in Washington, D.C., he studied in his youth under Rabbi Dovid Leibowitz at Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim and later became a close disciple of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein at Mesivta Tiferes Yerushalayim in New York. In 1949 he moved to Memphis to serve the Anshe Sfard congregation as its cantor and Talmud Torah teacher, later becoming its rabbi, and soon afterward helped start one of the South's early Jewish day schools, which grew into the Margolin Hebrew Academy. He led the city's Vaad Hakehilloth kosher-certification body and for many years traveled widely as a mesader gittin, overseeing Jewish divorce proceedings. In 1999 he published K'reiach Sadeh, a volume of Torah commentary spanning the Chumash with Rashi and Targum Onkelos alongside Talmudic questions in the order of Kodshim. He died in New York in 2022.
