Trebonianus Gallus
c. 206 CE–c. 253 CE · Perugia
Gaius Vibius Trebonianus Gallus (c. 206–253 CE) was a Roman emperor of the Crisis of the Third Century who reigned from 251 to 253. He came from an old Etruscan family of Perusia (modern Perugia) and rose to power after the emperor Decius and his son were killed by the Goths at the Battle of Abritus in 251. His brief reign was beset by Gothic invasions across the Danube and by the devastating "Plague of Cyprian," and he was killed by his own troops in 253 amid these crises.
