c. 210 CE–c. 273 CE · Athens
Publius Herennius Dexippus was a Greek historian and statesman of Athens in the 3rd century CE, who took part in the defense of the city against invading Goths. He wrote historical works in Greek, including a chronicle and an account of the wars against the Germanic invaders of his time, which survive only in fragments but are valued for their first-hand perspective on a turbulent age. He was honored in Athens for both his public service and his learning.
