Yuknoom Yich'aak K'ak' (Fiery Claw)
649 CE–697 CE · Calakmul
Yuknoom Yich'aak K'ak', 'Fiery Claw,' succeeded Yuknoom the Great as king of the Snake kingdom at Calakmul in 686. In 695 his forces were defeated by a resurgent Tikal under Jasaw Chan K'awiil I, a reversal that broke Calakmul's supremacy, though inscriptions and his own funerary plate show he survived the battle. His richly furnished tomb, discovered within Calakmul's massive Structure II, is among the most important royal burials known from the Maya lowlands.
