Ibrahim was an Ottoman ruler whose reign began the long Cretan War against Venice over the island of Crete in 1645. His government was marked by court intrigue and financial difficulty, and his conduct drew growing opposition among officials and the military. He was deposed in 1648 and executed the same year.
