Ahmed III
1673 CE–1736 CE · Constantinople
Ahmed III was an Ottoman ruler (reigned 1703–1730) whose era is associated with the cultural 'Tulip Period,' a time of court refinement, the introduction of printing in Ottoman Turkish, and openness to European influences. His reign included wars with Russia, Venice, and Persia with mixed results. He was overthrown in the Patrona Halil revolt of 1730 and died in 1736.
