Louis-Philippe I
1773 CE–1850 CE · Paris
Louis-Philippe I reigned as "King of the French" from 1830 to 1848 during the period known as the July Monarchy. A member of the Orléans branch of the royal house, he came to the throne after the July Revolution deposed Charles X and ruled as a constitutional monarch associated with the propertied middle class. His government was seen by critics as corrupt and resistant to political reform. He was deposed by the Revolution of 1848 and fled to Britain, where he died in 1850.
