Tecumseh

Tecumseh was a Shawnee leader in the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes region during the early 1800s. Working with his brother Tenskwatawa, he sought to unite many nations into a broad confederacy to resist United States expansion onto Native lands. He allied with the British in the War of 1812 and was killed at the Battle of the Thames in 1813; his death effectively ended the confederacy he had worked to build. He remains one of the most widely remembered figures of Native resistance.
