Louis XVIII

Louis XVIII was King of France from 1814 to 1824, with an interruption during Napoleon's brief return to power in the Hundred Days of 1815. A younger brother of the executed Louis XVI, he came to the throne after the fall of Napoleon during the Bourbon Restoration. He accepted a constitutional charter that preserved many of the changes brought by the French Revolution while restoring the monarchy. He was succeeded on his death by his brother, Charles X.
