Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar

Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar (1742–1797) founded the Qajar dynasty. Captured and castrated as a boy amid the wars after Nader Shah's death, he later reunified Iran through relentless campaigns, defeating the last Zand ruler and being crowned shahanshah in 1796. He made Tehran his capital, which it has remained ever since. His short reign restored a centralized Iranian state before he was assassinated in 1797.
