Tipu Sultan

Tipu Sultan (1751–1799) was the ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore, succeeding his father Hyder Ali in 1782. He continued the resistance to British East India Company expansion, fighting the Third and Fourth Anglo-Mysore Wars and seeking alliances with France. Known for administrative and military innovations, including early experiments with rocket artillery, he ceded territory after his defeat in 1792. He was killed in 1799 when British and allied forces stormed his capital, Seringapatam.
