Zev Wolf of Zhitomyr, known as the Or HaMeir (Light of the Enlightened), was an 18th-century Hasidic master active in Ukraine, particularly in Polnoye. A prominent figure in early Hasidic thought, he was deeply influenced by the Ba'al Shem Tov and became a noted preacher and spiritual guide. Or HaMeir was known for his mystical interpretations of Torah and his ability to move hearts through homiletic teaching. He delivered sermons that blended Kabbalistic insight with practical ethics. His influence extended through his students, and he remained a respected voice in the consolidation of Hasidic thought during a formative period. He passed away in 1798.

We know they were here, but the specifics of what they did at this stop aren’t recorded yet in our corpus.
Polonne (Polnoye), a town in Volhynia (today in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, western Ukraine), was an early center of the chasidic movement. Rabbi Yaakov Yosef HaKohen of Polnoye, a leading disciple of the Baal Shem Tov, served there; his Toldot Yaakov Yosef (1780) was the first published chasidic book and a principal record of the Baal Shem Tov's teachings.
