Abdulhamid I
1725 CE–1789 CE · Constantinople
Abdulhamid I became Ottoman ruler in 1774 and soon concluded the costly war with Russia through the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca, which recognized Russian gains and influence over Ottoman affairs. He attempted administrative and military reforms during a period of continued external pressure, including the Russian annexation of Crimea. He died in 1789.
