Bodawpaya

Bodawpaya (1745–1819) was the sixth king of Burma's Konbaung dynasty, reigning from 1782 to 1819. He expanded the kingdom through military campaigns, most notably the conquest of the coastal kingdom of Arakan in 1784, which brought Burma into contact and tension with British India. He undertook religious reforms and a major census, and moved the capital to Amarapura. His reign also saw ambitious but costly public and military projects.
