Cacamatzin
1483 CE–1520 CE · Texcoco
Cacamatzin, a son of Nezahualpilli, ruled Texcoco from 1515 as a nephew and ally of Moctezuma II. His accession was contested by his brother Ixtlilxochitl, splitting the Acolhua realm—a division the Spanish would exploit during the conquest. Reportedly opposing accommodation with the newcomers, he was seized and died in captivity in 1520, and Texcoco's rival factions afterward took opposite sides in the war for Tenochtitlan.
