Nezahualpilli
1464 CE–1515 CE · Texcoco
Nezahualpilli succeeded his father Nezahualcoyotl as ruler of Texcoco in 1472 and reigned until 1515. Like his father he was esteemed as a wise judge and lawgiver and took a keen interest in astronomy, maintaining Texcoco's reputation as the intellectual center of the Valley of Mexico. Traditions credit him with omens said to foretell the coming of the Spanish, and his death left Texcoco weakened by a disputed succession on the eve of the conquest.
