Cosijoeza
?–1529 CE · Zaachila
Cosijoeza was the Zapotec king of Zaachila in the Valley of Oaxaca, coming to the throne in 1487. He resisted Aztec expansion into his lands, most famously withstanding a long siege at the hilltop fortress of Guiengola before making peace through marriage to a daughter of the Mexica ruler Ahuitzotl. He extended Zapotec power southward to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, and his son Cosijopii would become the last sovereign of that line.
