John F. Kennedy was the 35th President, serving from 1961 until his assassination in 1963, as a Democrat. A former U.S. senator from Massachusetts, he navigated the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 and set the national goal of landing an American on the Moon. He established the Peace Corps and was assassinated in Dallas in November 1963.
