Lord Salisbury

Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury, was a British Conservative statesman who served three terms as Prime Minister between 1885 and 1902. For much of his time in office he also acted as his own Foreign Secretary and directed British foreign policy during a period of imperial expansion in Africa and elsewhere. He was the last prime minister to lead a government from the House of Lords. He retired in 1902 and died the following year.
