Wilhelm II

Wilhelm II was the last German Emperor and King of Prussia, reigning from 1888 until his abdication in 1918. Soon after coming to the throne he dismissed Chancellor Otto von Bismarck and pursued a more assertive foreign and naval policy that heightened tensions among the European powers. Germany's defeat in the First World War led to revolution at home, and he abdicated in November 1918 and went into exile in the Netherlands. He remained there until his death in 1941.
