Rudyard Kipling

Rudyard Kipling was an English writer and poet born in Bombay in British India. After a childhood partly spent in England, he returned to India as a journalist, where he began publishing verse and short fiction. His works include The Jungle Book, Kim, the Just So Stories, the poem "If—", and "Gunga Din". He later lived in the United States and settled in Sussex, England. In 1907 he became the first English-language writer, and at the time the youngest, to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. His writing on empire, childhood, and duty has been widely read and much debated. He died in London in 1936.
