John Tyler
1790 CE–1862 CE · Washington, D.C.
John Tyler was the 10th President, serving from 1841 to 1845, initially as a Whig. He was the first Vice President to succeed to the presidency on the death of a president, following William Henry Harrison, establishing the precedent that the successor becomes full president. His term concluded with the annexation of Texas.
