Rabbi Shlomo Kluger (1783–1869) was a prominent Galician posek and Talmudist who served as chief dayyan and preacher (Maggid) of Brody, Galicia, for over fifty years. Born in Komarów, he became known for his prolific halakhic writings and creative approach to reconciling apparent contradictions in rabbinic sources. Kluger was remarkably productive despite living through turbulent decades of Eastern European Jewish history, composing novellae on the Talmud, responsa, and commentaries on biblical and Talmudic texts. He was respected as a flexible and practical decisor who sought to resolve disputes between earlier authorities through careful textual analysis. His intellectual legacy influenced Hungarian and Galician rabbinic circles, and he trained numerous students who themselves became distinguished rabbis.
