Neville Chamberlain

Neville Chamberlain was a British Conservative statesman who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1937 to 1940. He is chiefly associated with the policy of appeasement toward Nazi Germany, culminating in the Munich Agreement of 1938, which ceded parts of Czechoslovakia to Germany. After Germany invaded Poland in 1939, his government declared war, but following early Allied setbacks he resigned in May 1940 and was succeeded by Winston Churchill. He died later that year.
