Quanah Parker
1845 CE–1911 CE · Comancheria
Quanah Parker was the last principal chief of the Comanche, born to a Comanche father and Cynthia Ann Parker, a captive of English descent. He was a leader of the Quahada band, which resisted confinement to a reservation until surrendering in 1875 after the Red River War. On the reservation in Indian Territory he became an influential figure, promoting his people's interests, engaging in ranching and business, and helping shape the Native American Church. He died in 1911.
