Ibrahim Lodi

Ibrahim Lodi

?1526 CE · Delhi

Ibrahim Lodi was the last sultan of the Lodi dynasty and the final ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. His efforts to assert authority alienated sections of the Afghan nobility, some of whom invited the Timurid ruler Babur to invade. Ibrahim was defeated and killed at the First Battle of Panipat in 1526, an outcome that ended the Delhi Sultanate and inaugurated Mughal rule in India.
