Clement Attlee

Clement Attlee was a British Labour statesman who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1951. Having served as Deputy Prime Minister in Churchill's wartime coalition, he led Labour to a decisive victory in the 1945 election. His government established the National Health Service, expanded the welfare state, nationalized major industries, and oversaw the independence of India and Pakistan in 1947. He led the Labour Party for two decades until 1955.
