Rabbi Chaim of Czernowitz (c. 1740–1817), known by his work Be'er Mayim Chaim, was a Hasidic master and halakhic authority who led a community in Czernowitz in Bukovina. He was active during the early expansion of Hasidic thought into Eastern Europe and became known for his efforts to harmonize Hasidic spirituality with rigorous Talmudic scholarship. His biblical commentary, Be'er Mayim Chaim, combined Hasidic homiletical interpretation with careful textual analysis and remains studied in traditional Jewish circles for its fusion of devotional and legal insight.
