Tuman bay II
?–1517 CE · Cairo
Al-Ashraf Tuman bay II (died 1517) was the last sultan of the Mamluk Sultanate, taking the throne in late 1516 after the death of Qansuh al-Ghuri. He organized resistance to the advancing Ottoman army of Selim I but was defeated as the Ottomans took Cairo in early 1517. He was captured and executed by the Ottomans in April 1517. His death ended the Mamluk Sultanate and brought Egypt under Ottoman rule.
